A motive is the smallest identifiable melodic, harmonic, or rhythmic fragment in a piece of music. This etude will provide ideas for how to take a simple motive and "mess around" with it throughout the course of a solo, experimenting with different ways to alter, develop, and occasionally deviate from it, while always keeping it as the main source of development.
INCLUDES:
A PDF containing the etude (a four-chorus F blues) with annotations, along with a list of recommended artists to listen to for further inspiration.
a MIDI recording of the etude
**This product is delivered as a digital download in .zip format.
